Welcome to the new online home of the Fort Peck Journal. If you’ve visited this website before, you may recognize it as the former home of Tribal Times News. Rather than build an entirely new website from scratch, we chose to repurpose the existing digital infrastructure to ensure the Journal could continue serving the Fort Peck community without interruption.

Many readers have asked why the Journal is moving online.

Recently, our newspaper delivery vehicle was struck by a deer and sustained severe damage, leaving us without a reliable way to transport printed newspapers to and from the printer. Combined with the rising costs of printing and distribution, it became clear that we needed a temporary solution that would allow us to continue serving the Fort Peck community without interruption.

For now, the Fort Peck Journal will operate as a digital publication, with hopes of returning to regular printed editions around October, if circumstances allow.

What does this mean for our readers?

It means the Journal isn’t going anywhere.

Every edition of the newspaper will be published here on the website. Local news, sports, community events, obituaries, public notices, legal notices, bid advertisements, photographs, opinion pieces, and other Journal content will continue to be available here as it is published.

To continue serving readers who rely on printed public notices, we will also produce a free printed publication containing legal notices, bid advertisements, and similar information for distribution throughout the community.

This website will become the primary source for Fort Peck Journal news and information, and we encourage everyone to bookmark it, visit often, and share it with family and friends.

The transition to digital also allows us to publish breaking news more quickly, share additional photographs, and make important community information available without waiting for the next print edition.

We appreciate the patience and support of our readers, advertisers, and community partners as we work through this transition. The Fort Peck Journal has served the Fort Peck Reservation and surrounding communities for many years, and our commitment to accurate, local journalism remains unchanged.
