Tribal law enforcement arrested two people in connection with the stabbing of a 12-year-old boy.

On Wednesday, March 19, 2025, some children were observed and recorded engaging in a physical altercation. This took place in the field north of US Highway 2. It was located between the main road and Airport Addition in Poplar. It is just east of the new Wellness Center. Two male suspects broke away and were seen running across the highway going south.

Shortly after running away, a child was admitted to the Poplar Hospital Emergency Room. It was reported that he was stabbed.

Within hours, police tracked down the suspected assailants. They arrested two juvenile males. This information comes from a press release by the Tribal Department of Law and Justice.

Both males were charged in Tribal Court.

The victim is recovering from the stabbing.

When the incident happened, a video of the assault was posted on Facebook. It was taken down minutes later. People were commenting that the person recording the video should have stepped in to help.

The incident remains under investigation.

Federal and tribal laws forbid the naming of juvenile criminal suspects.
